Examination of the relationship between demographic information and science literacy in daily life

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between demographic information and science literacy in the daily life of people living in Edirne City Center of Turkey. The relational survey model was used in quantitative research methods in the research. The data were collected through a questionnaire developed by the researcher questioning the demographic information of the participants and the science literacy scale. The developed questionnaires and scales were applied to 125 people. Quantitative data collected from questionnaires and scales were analyzed using SPSS software. Then, these data obtained were evaluated as chi-square analysis, One Way ANOVA, and t-test, and the results were presented using tables. As a result of the data analysis, it has been revealed that the participants' demographic information and daily science literacy differ according to their reading habits, watching documentaries, reading newspapers, being registered in scientific publications, educational status, and profession.
